Common questions
- Is it really a one-time purchase?
- Yes. $300 buys a perpetual license for one machine — the software never expires. The only recurring cost is optional: $125/machine/year for continued updates & support, and the first year is included.
- What happens if I stop paying for maintenance?
- Nothing breaks. You keep StarNest forever, including every version released while your maintenance was active — you'd only miss versions released after it lapsed. Renew anytime to get those.
- Is the license tied to a machine or a user?
- To a machine — one license per cutting PC. Need more? Additional machines are $210 each (30% off). You can move a license to a new PC from your account.
- Can I use it offline?
- Yes — fully. StarNest verifies your license offline and never needs to phone home.
- What controller does it output to?
- StarNest generates G-code for LinuxCNC (CandCNC / CommandCNC). Support for other controllers isn't available today.
